Getting started
The feeling is mutual
When choosing a financial adviser, your most critical step is ensuring that there is a mutual understanding. You need to feel we understand you and your situation and feel confident about working with us. It’s a relationship we will ideally have for the rest of our lives, so it’s important that we spend some time getting to know one another before making the mutual commitment to working together.
The following outlines the key steps in establishing our relationship and the development of your wealth management plan:

Your first meeting with us is at no expense to you and is completely obligation free.
To make the most of this time, it is recommended that you attend with your significant other, if you have one. Please take the time to explore our website so that you can gain a sound understanding of our values, beliefs and philosophies. You will meet with one of our Senior Financial Consultants and a Technical Specialist, who will become your dedicated professional team should you decide to proceed. They will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of your personal financial plan.
We will spend at least an hour together learning about you and your family’s current situation, values, goals and personal objectives, as well as your attitudes towards risk and your experiences with investing. We will answer any questions that you may have on the services that we provide, along with our philosophies on the successful management of the important areas of your financial life. We will also explain where we believe we can add value to your situation at an initial high level.
Our Financial Services Guide Version 4.0 (FSG) outlines all of our services, fees and charges and is available here for you to download and read. It will also be provided and explained when we meet. You are welcome to ask any questions you may have about its contents at our first meeting.
If you would like to proceed further with Strategic Wealth, we’ll prepare a formal Plan Proposal letter detailing our understanding of your situation as discussed so far, the further information required, how we believe we can assist with your objectives, and our professional fees for the creation of your financial plan.
We will work closely with your other financial advisers, or assist you to identify the right specialists to meet your particular needs. We are highly skilled at co-ordinating the advice of a range of specialists to deliver a simple and professionally managed outcome.
Once you authorise us to proceed, we will ask you to complete our Client Profile and Lifestyle Questionnaire, which enables us to capture all of the important information about you and your family. Upon receipt of the completed questionnaire, we will contact you with any immediate questions on the information that has been provided to us. We do not commence work on your financial plan until we are satisfied that we have an accurate and complete understanding of your situation and needs.
In most cases, there may be a number of meetings to be scheduled in the early stages of our relationship followed by regular progress meetings. The two key meetings relatingh to the development of youe wealth management plan are follows:
- Strategy Meeting – Should your situation require it, we may ask you to meet with us to review the outcome of our detailed research and modelling and provide guidance on your most preferred scenario. This assists us to ensure that our advice is tailored to meet your specific needs.
- Plan Presentation Meeting – Once we have completed and documented our advice, we will arrange to meet and present our findings via a PowerPoint presentation to enable you to assess the information visually/graphically as well as take the written plan home.
Once we have reviewed the wealth management plan and you have agreed to implment the recommnedations, then a further and separate meeting may be required to complete all of the implementation paperwork, including Application forms. Our aim to is make this part of the process as simple as possible and ensure that you progress the recommnedations in a timely manner.
If appropriate, we will meet again after approximately six weeks to summarise where we are up to. There can, at times, be a number of threads that we are project managing on your behalf. For example, co-ordinating with your accountant or tax adviser, estate planning lawyer, insurance underwriters and superannuation funds.
The developent of your wealth management plan is an extremely important first step. However, it is also important to regularly review the strategies being implemented as your situation and the legistrative/market environment changes. Based on our agreed Ongoing Service Agreement, we will meet at least annually to review your situation and ensure your strategy remains in line with current legislation and with our original recommendations and also provides an opportunity to fine tune and comprehend any changes in your circumstances.
